Bathroom Remodeling Trends Expected In 2022

72% of homeowners surveyed by real estate and rental marketplace giant, Zillow, will consider at least one home improvement project in 2022. Of that group, more than half leaned towards a bathroom remodel. So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at bathroom trends expected this year.

2022 bathroom remodeling trends from around the web

Universal Design Upgrades

According to Better Homes & Gardens, many bathroom remodeling trends are giving a nod to universal design principles and we are glad to see it! We are big proponents of making a home safe and accessible for aging loved ones and people with disabilities and as we mentioned in the article, A Guide To Aging In Place In Alabama, the concept of universal design is to create spaces that everyone can enjoy regardless of age, physical ability, or stature.

Curbless showers (i.e., wheel-chair accessible), handheld showers, and shower seats are prime examples of universal design and are expected to be quite popular this year as are vanity lighting that creates a brighter bath space and humidity and steam-sensing exhaust fans.

Bathroom Suites

As King Louis XIV’s opulent bathroom suite in Versaille and Napoleon's marble-filled bathroom suggests, bathroom suites are not a new concept but it is one that is marked for greater popularity this year. According to Good Housekeeping, larger bathrooms are ideal for homeowners who are at home all the time and need a place to go to get away from the demands of life and work. And of course, there are a lot of suggestions for decorating from scenic murals on the walls to mixing colors, textures, and materials used.

Spa-Inspired Features

Several websites related to home remodeling have included spa-like bathrooms. It seems homeowners want a little more luxury in their life and even want to feel like they’re on vacation while making a trip to the loo. Incorporating spa-inspired features such as curbless showers, heated floors, and free-standing bathtubs as well as a relaxing color palette may accomplish just that in 2022.

More homeowners are turning to the pros for their kitchen renovations
